Frequently asked questions about KoruAI
Everything we get asked about pricing, NZ compliance (PGDB, EWRB, NZ Spam Act 2003), and what it's like running KoruAI in the field — multi-trade crews, offline capture, and how we differ from platforms built for larger US enterprises.

Top 5 tradie objections
How does KoruAI cost compare to hiring an estimator?
Hiring a part-time estimator in NZ trades typically runs $35–55 per quote in direct wages, plus the lead-time cost of a day or more between inspection and quote landing with the client. KoruAI’s Sprint onboarding is a $999 one-off that pays back inside the first week of a five-person crew turning quotes around in under a minute; Diagnostic is $49/month for solo tradies who want the same loop at a self-serve pace. Either way you get a reviewable quote draft, not a binding commitment, before anything leaves to the client.
How accurate are AI-generated quotes?
KoruAI drafts quotes against your own client template and your own rate book, so the line items, rates, and GST split are the numbers you have already approved. The draft lands in a review queue, not in the client’s inbox — nothing ships from KoruAI to a customer without a tradie or owner hitting send. If you want a fast sanity-check before you commit, the /compare page has an anonymous quote-draft tool that runs the same engine against a stock template; no signup required.
Which NZ regulations does KoruAI cover?
PGDB certificates for plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying; EWRB Certificates of Compliance and Electrical Safety Certificates for sparkies, with cross-scope detection between CoC and ESC; ESR (prescribed electrical work) triggers; E2/AS1 building-code call-outs; and the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2003 cadence on every client follow-up — clear sender, working unsubscribe, no resale to a shared list. What the system does not do is sign a certificate of competence on a tradie’s behalf; that signature stays with the registered practitioner.
Where does my business data live, and who can access it?
KoruAI stores customer, job and compliance records in New Zealand under NZ data residency — no offshore replica, no US data-processing addendum. Access is scoped per role: tradies see their own jobs and the records attached to them, owners see everything on their account, and KoruAI staff can only reach a record in response to a support ticket you raised. We do not resell, share, or aggregate your client list with anyone outside the product. One unsubscribe link in every utility email; full record export on request; deletion within 30 days if you leave. Full details — including the exact fields captured on /compare, where they are stored, how they are fed to the AI quote-drafter, and how to request access or deletion — are in the Privacy Notice (/privacy#data-on-compare).
How quickly can I get a working quote out?
A Diagnostic customer can post a field note and have a reviewable quote draft in front of them inside the same job — the typical turnaround is under a minute end-to-end. A Sprint customer gets the same loop wired to their own templates, rates, and roster during a 30-day setup window, with the live dashboard up in week one and a wrap-up handover at day 30. Either path finishes at a quote you review and send, not a quote the system has already dispatched.
Topic 2
Pricing & plans
Is there a contract?
No annual contract — Diagnostic and Managed are monthly Stripe subscriptions that cancel from the Stripe customer portal; Sprint is a one-off with no subscription to renew.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel anytime from the Stripe customer portal (one click, no email required). After cancellation you can still export your records; once you ask for deletion we remove them within 30 days.
How is GST handled on invoices and checkout?
All subscription prices are NZD and GST-inclusive for NZ customers — Stripe Tax calculates the right GST line on checkout and applies it to your invoice. No GST math for you at renewal.
Topic 3
Compliance — PGDB, EWRB, NZ Spam Act
What trades are supported?
Plumbers, electricians, gasfitters, builders, and HVAC. KoruAI ships with PGDB doc templates for plumbers/gasfitters, EWRB + ESR templates for sparkies, and a generic builders/HVAC template.
How does PGDB/EWRB compliance work?
KoruAI covers both workflows in the product — PGDB certs for gasfitting and EWRB CoC/ESC for sparkies — but the underlying records stay separate per regulator. One unified dashboard; two paper-trails.
Does KoruAI work for NZ electrical businesses?
Yes — EWRB CoC and ESC certificates are wired in, and cross-scope detection flags a job crossing the sparky/plumber boundary so it gets filed under the right register.
Does KoruAI help with PGDB, EWRB and NZ Spam Act compliance?
Yes — PGDB-aware compliance records, E2/AS1 building-code triggers, EWRB cross-scope detection, and every email + SMS follow-up carries a working unsubscribe, suppression list and sender identity that satisfies the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007.
Topic 4
Field use & multi-trade
How is KoruAI different from ServiceTitan?
ServiceTitan is built for US multi-trade enterprises and leaves PGDB records, EWRB notices, E2/AS1 building-code triggers and NZ Spam Act 2003 follow-ups outside the product. KoruAI ships with those NZ-specific obligations as core features, with pricing sized for a 5–25 person crew rather than a per-tech enterprise band.
Can KoruAI be used offline in the field?
Yes — KoruAI captures job notes and photos offline on the tradie’s phone, then syncs once signal is back, so a job site with patchy coverage doesn’t lose detail.
Does KoruAI support multi-trade plumbing, electrical and gasfitting?
Yes — KoruAI covers plumbing, electrical, gasfitting and drainage on a single account, with PGDB doc templates for plumbers/gasfitters, EWRB + ESR templates for sparkies, and a shared dashboard that rolls up compliance across trades.
